It was designed by franco scaglione at bertone and was produced at the coachbuilder's grugliasco plant near turin. Alfa romeo had already launched the sprint speciale, the ss high performance version of the giulietta, in 1957. Zagato was a prominent designer and past collaboration. It's certainly a very clean design, but when you consider that, at the time, you could buy the giulia sprint speciale came from the alfa factory with fantastic bertone coachwork as standard.
